Swim in The Snow

So it snowed again. Goobers isn't happy about it. I think Pickle is celebrating that there is snow while Goobers is questioning why she moved to a colder client.

As the conversation continued, someone dared someone else to go swim in the snow.

Possible and a few of her friends tried it. Possible put her suit on and dived in, then ran inside to warm up.  Crazy kids!

Fuddrucker Fun

Big families have a skill at taking an ordinary outing and turning it into an epic adventure or contest.
What started out as a simple evening dinner after Sunday night Mass ended in an obsession with who could "win" the most prizes using the claw.

Too Hot for Clothes

We arrived hoe from Mass.  I was driving and was quit shocked to see that my son just started peeling layers.  What a goof!

It is hot!  Too hot.  I prefer they stay dressed until we arrive inside!

EVIL did it

Twin moment:

Sitting in my office/school room (front room of the house) I hear a ball hitting the front window. I run outside like I am mad and ask who did it?

Adorable:

"What mom, we don't know what happened?"
Beautiful:

"It wasn't Sugar. 'Ak-u-a-lee' (actually) it was someone EVIL"

Then they all giggled.  I guess you are never too young to blame evil.
Goof balls.

Making Our Own Amulets

Sofia the First is a big deal around this house.  The girls are loving the story and share at pretending to be here.

I decided that this Sunday afternoon we would try to make our own amulets.  The idea was that they would be nothing like Sofia's but they would still be special.

These homemade amulets were fun but didn't last that long.  Unfortunately our glue didn't hold long. Their smiles did.  These two are so funny.  They make things like this so much fun!  Life is better with this silly willies in it.

Sugar Epi'd Pickle

. . . but not on purpose.  What?  You ask - well I will explain to the best of my ability.

Waiting in traffic because of a major accident was not a good way home.  The swimmers were very tired from the early morning practice. Coach Sugar was driving them home and trying to stay awake. It got difficult as they got into the second hour of a complete stand still on the major highway. No where to go and everyone was snoring.  She needed to wake herself up so she started playing around.

So much heat, so many cars, and lots of snoring.

We all know that Sugar keeps several epi pens close by in case of one of her many allergic reactions. She practices with the testers all the time. We even have the twins practice with the testers.  It is a scary thing to be so allergic and so reliable on the epinephrine to keep her going during an reaction.  As mom I often correct them for "playing" with the testers, to me it is just too serious. Sugar, while trying to keep her siblings awake while they wait for the traffic to open up starts "playing" with the tester.  To her demise Pickle kept sleeping.  She jokingly grabbed the tester and pretended to "EPI" Pickle.  She touched the shot injector to his chest, and yelled, "EPI!".  She thought this was funny and it woke him up.
Pickle was startled but complained that it hurt.  They looked down and noticed that it was the actual shot and NOT the tester.  Poor pickle.  He was fine, just a tad bit of extra energy.  The injected could only have put a little medicine in him because it wasn't to his skin that long.  They arrived home knowing that I was going to be super angry with Sugar - SHE KNOWS BETTER.  I was told over and over again that it was an accident.  (As mom I know that but I also know how lucky they were.)
The shot did not fully engage, he got a taste of the medicine but not even close to a full dose.  I was concerned that it was in his chest but it didn't go deep.  Thank goodness.  We all giggled that Pickle felt that he must have been turned into a superhero because of all that power he felt after wards. Silly kids.  They keep me on my knees all the time, even when they play.

On a completely different note:  Please offer a prayer for the soul lost, they were trapped on the highway for so long because of a fatal accident.  May the soul of the accident victim rest in peace!

Silly Prank or Evil Dead

As we headed to Mass we saw this . . .

the fountain had been attacked with bubbles.  We got a good chuckle out of it.  In the end it took about one and half weeks for the water to run clean.  Some neighbors were up in arms saying that it could ruin the pumps, kill wildlife and cost hundreds of dollars for repairs.  We heard that it could costly but were never given clear understanding that it did.

One of Those Days

At least our day wasn't as bad as the owners of that house.

St. Patrick protect us!

Not a call a mom wants to get while on the way home knowing that dad is out of town for the next two days . . . "Um mom, how do we get a SNAKE out of the house?"
The first thing I did, of course, knowing that my hubby has a snake phobia was to call him and tell him that God has sent a sign that it was time for us to move.  Dad did some research and called home.  When I got there the kids, with dad on the phone, had ruled out anything dangerous.
The goal was not to hurt the thing but man those things can move when you put a snow shovel by them.  By the way Jumba didn't even know what the snow shovel was until I explained its shape to him (another sign it is time to move LOL).
Pickle and Princess watch "Billy the Exterminator" all the time.  They pretend to be exterminators every now and then but when a snake was spotted inside they climbed up on chairs.  Nice guys, make the pregnant mommy take care of it.  That isn't really a fair statement because Goobers and Sugar had it trapped and were working on how to get it out before I got home.
I think it is funny that the snake shows up this close to St. Patrick's Day, IF WE ONLY LIVED IN IRELAND - THIS WOULD NEVER BE A PROBLEM.  I am sorry but I think that I wasn't as gentle with the snake as I wanted to be, I don't think it made it.  Sorry to all you snake lovers.

Failure Smelled Great

Saying it has been really really hot would not even begin to describe the summer we have been having. It wasn't a bad spring, just dry. Then the heat hit and it is still dry. There are dead trees all around us. It has been brutal. Then I really got a giggle reading a peer's blog, I just couldn't wait to try it myself with my own kiddos:   http://princesstine.blogspot.com/2011/08/dashboard-baking.html

So this adventurous family set the bar and I decided that we would try it.  The Texas T's were going to try it also.   I think that this family must live in the Dallas area.  That area has been warmer than Houston.  They have had some rain and the heat hasn't lasted as long but they have been hotter.  So I think that their car got a tad warmer than our.  I didn't have a thermometer so I can't say for certain.

We set the cookies on the dash and set the timer.  The other blogging family said theirs took five hours.  So that was our plan.  Every hour we checked and took a picture.  Notice the fingers held up by various kiddos.

After the bell rang after the fifth hour we were a tad disappointed .  The outer shell was hard but the inside just a little cooked.  It would have taken several more hours of the same heat but we just didn't have it.

As far as I am concerned this was a very successful home school science experiment.  The kids walk away with the right to poke fun of me when I complain.
Mom, "Oh man it is hotter than the surface of the sun today."
Kids,"Oh mom stop complaining, it isn't even as hot as the oven."
   They got me there  . . .
Still worth it.  We had the best time checking on them and then eating them at the end of the day.  One thing that I do think worked well was the smell in the car.  It smelled very very yummy for a few hours after our "baking" was completed.

So much my has been happening. I needed comfort. I decided to make one of my favorite meals from my youth.  My mom was not the most flavorf...
