Voting

J was out of town and everyone else was working. I went to vote by myself.  There were only two items on the ballot but I fulfilled my civic duty. I know it seams silly to document but I want my children to really understand that the only way we can make the United States a better place by voting. It is our job.

We Voted!

We tried to get ready for voting by going to Mass, but we were running too late. We went to breakfast and prayed for our country. We then took the younger ones home and picked up Sugar after she worked that morning. Off to the polls.
We grabbed our voting cards and headed off.

It is our family tradition to make a big deal out of voting. We are so privileged in this country to be able to vote.

Things looked a little different here than in TX. We are used to the electronic ballots but here we were handed a piece of paper and a pen. Some things in Missouri are just not as sophisticated.

Goobers did her thing in TX too, make sure to vote.

Early Voting

We always try to make a big deal out of voting.  I love that as Americans we can share our opinions through votes.  Princess was along for the ride but this was Possible's First Official Vote!  So proud!

We celebrated with breakfast.  Yeah Possible!
GO VOTE!

Inauguration Day

27 days ago I started a 54 day rosary novena for our country. I was praying for the smooth transition from one president to another.  I said the last of the petition rosary the night before the inauguration.  I decided to say it in the adoration chapel.  The United States has been acting silly these past few weeks since the election.  So much rhetoric that good people are very confused.  We decided to pray for the country and our New President and celebrate the change.

We decided to have a true American meal steaks, grilled onions, salad and bread.  We also toasted with some wine and sparkling grape juice.

To our new President we offer our prayers for peace, success in office and happiness.
We have not been happy with the past 8 years so we are hopeful that President Trump will be able to "Make America Great Again!"

Happy With the Election

I do not really want to be political here.  Although in fairness, if we are recording family activities here I will need to say that election discussion is a big part of our homeschool conversations.  I have grabbed just a few of the memes that came over Facebook that I laughed at or enjoyed.

I am amazed at the number of people that have taken the stand that "Trump is not my president!" just because they do not like him.  I have hated our current president as a policy maker.  I disagree with just about everything the man has stood for or done.  I am a proud citizen of the United States and have never declared that "he isn't my president."  The world is a crazy place.  I do hope that Trump can make America great again.  Good or bad he is the choice, so deal with it.  We are blaming the Russians, voter fraud and all kinds of ludicrous scenarios.  This one came from a friend who knew how happy we were for the Cubs!  Silly! Now if I could only get Pickle's impersonation of the new president.  He has made us laugh with his voice for months now!

Vote

This was an important election.  So important we headed out a few days early to wait in line to early vote.  This was Sugar's first presidential election.  The vote was exciting and heated at the polling place.  We waited a short time but it wasn't too long of a wait.  Nothing is too long to wait to exercise our right to vote.  I am so proud to be American.  I am overcome with emotions when I vote.  I am hopeful and fearful but very proud.  I am extremely thankful for being born in this country!

Goobers went the next afternoon.  Sadly we couldn't go together but at least we voted!

Pooker went on election day!  Added her picture later after finding it on Facebook.

Now to wait to see who we elected?!?

So much my has been happening. I needed comfort. I decided to make one of my favorite meals from my youth.  My mom was not the most flavorf...
