EMT on Christmas Day

Mom:
"I am really proud of this girl. She is in uniform heading to an EMT job on Christmas Day. Thank you to all the military, police, medical staff and first responders who leave the comfort of their warm homes even during a Holiday to make sure there rest of us stay safe. Thank you Pooker!"

We were so lucky as a family to have had this young woman with us on Christmas eve.  We ate our meal and saved a big portion for her.  She does what she can to care for others.  I love her desire to serve others so very much.

Pooker:
"I. Love. This. Job. I picked up the Texans game on Christmas Day because I do love this job. I didn’t have to and honestly they probably would have gotten the coverage they needed, but I wanted to work.
When you respect the place you give your time to it’s just so much more fun and enjoyable. I work with amazing medics that are professional, kind and competent and we have supervisors that value each of us and just make even the smallest shifts you pick up worth it. I could have been with family or friends on my day off, but I picked up to support this company because I value them so so much.  ❤️ Trust that you are well taken care of if you’re ever at NRG."

Merry Christmas to all those that live their lives to serve others and to keep them safe!

New Position For Pooker

Pooker is very excited to get back to patient care and out of marketing. It just wasn't not her cup of tea.

She says it best on Facebook:
"Annnnnd the marketing hat is officially hung up. It has been a crazy, busy and stressful 9 months of marketing, guys. I am so thankful for the time I had to learn more of the business side of the world through. I use to think 9-5ers had it so easy compared to my “heroic” 24 hours. Y’all that shit ain’t easy! I have a whole new level of respect for marketing/sales reps and teams.

I did learn a lot about myself and my abilities to grow, adapt and push myself. I met so many special people with different companies that had so much to share about marketing and true patient care. There’s some really good people and companies out there. If you ever have questions about senior care/ Home Health/ private duty/ hospice, let me know. I will gladly get you in touch with good people.

If you care, I have taken a new role as a night time Emt/lab tech at a free standing ER. I do highly encourage you to check us out if you need emergency care. We usually have zero wait time. ðŸ˜‰ The fit is prefect right now and I’m so happy.

Always hard to make a change even if you want the change to happen. Glad to move on but going to miss some good people for sure."

Texans Training Center Visit

Pooker works for the HCEC as an EMT at the Stadium.  She works football games, concerts and fun stuff like that.  This isn't a full time thing but it keeps her skills up.  They also take good care of their people.  Pooker was invited to an open house before the football season began.  She could bring the entire family (most of us were out of town).  The Texans are the team we cheer for.  Considering Bagel and Jumba are two of the biggest Texans fans we have in the house, they were excited! Now on to explore the facilities to include the training center and have some fun.

Pooker and Goobers always show their siblings a fun time.

EMT Dinner to Honor Pooker

Pooker continues to work as an EMT part time for Harris County.  She works for the big events.  Harris County had their appreciation dinner for their EMTs.  Pooker wanted her dad to be her guest.

He later told me that it was a great night.  He got to listen to people tell him how much they love having Pooker around, what a great employee she is and how wonderful she works.  That kind of evening is a great one for a proud dad.  Good job Pooker!

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Pooker really wanted us to go to the St. Patricks Day Parade.  Her company is always very involved.  She had just completed the bike training/crowd control so she would be on duty.  We pulled out our Irish side and headed to the parade route.

Honestly it wasn't until the end of the parade went by that we finally saw Pooker. I promise this was a friendly wave but she was working so nothing more.  I am so proud of this girl.  She serves others in her career and does it so well and with so much enthusiasm.
Happy St. Patricks Day to you.

Jumba Riots

Pooker asked her siblings to help at a mock riot as part of her extra crowd control bike training.  Jumba went with them but was too young so he got to help those in charge.  He had a blast!

Annual Neighborhood Breakfast With Santa

As soon as we moved into the neighborhood 13 years ago we felt lost and alone.  We were 700 miles from home. The neighborhood hosted a Breakfast with Santa.  We ventured out and this started to help us to feel normal.  Every year we go.  It is or family tradition.  Even though we were homeless, we are homeless inside the same neighborhood.  We had to go.  It gave us normal again.

The cool part is that Pooker was working.  She was able to convince her supervisor to stop by to visit Santa as well.  We were blessed that for that short time there were no emergencies.Doesn't our pooker look cool in her uniform.

Twin Beautiful was brave enough to sit and chat with Santa.
Eventually Twin Adorable would as well, but just for a second.

Honestly we will miss this in Northampton.  We were blessed to be able to continue this each year.  Our lives have changed so much from that first year God is so good to us.  We have felt the love in this simple yearly visit with St. Nick.

So much my has been happening. I needed comfort. I decided to make one of my favorite meals from my youth.  My mom was not the most flavorf...
