Handy Manny Hats

The P family knew how much the girls loved Handy Manny and wanted to be like him.

As a late birthday present they gave the girls the best gift ever.  Each one got a hard hat just like Handy Manny, except theirs were pink.  They also got some tool.  Oh my goodness did they have fun.

The hats were so perfect that the girls tried to sleep with them.
Early the next morning the two were off playing with their new toys, fixing things around the house.

I did it again - way too long between posts

I got so busy with life that I was unable to post.  Swim team has officially ended.  I feel like I will be reclaiming my time - or at least trying to.   I love having the kids tell me that they need this that and something else and then tease me for not blogging.  I love having this huge family but it doesn't always make recording our activities easy.  God willing I will be blogging more and more in July!  Just a quick update to say that the family is well, no major changes.

So if you visit again in over the next few weeks, the above pictures and many more will be cataloged with stories.

New Record

I had to make this it's own post.  I am so proud of this young lady, we all are.  Her swim goal for this year was simple.  She wanted to break a team record and for the first time have her name on the team record board.  We were on the second day and so time was running out.  Possible has a beautiful Breast Stoke and had qualified for Ponderosa.  Meaning she was one of the fast ones already.  During her swim she came in 9th, but it still wasn't fast enough to break the record.  That means that she would not be swimming in the finals but would get one more time to swim in the consolation bracket.  For the record, it didn't matter how fast she would swim - she still couldn't place higher than 9th.  This crazy young woman bought herself a very any racing swim suit and talked herself into swimming the best swim of her life.  When she tagged the wall she knew.  She looked up and looked at the time, we all knew.  She smoked the girls racing against her but that didn't matter it was about the record.  She had made it!! Possible got out of the water and jumped up and down, she cheered herself up to her coaches and then all the way to her dad.  The girls that were swimming next were watching her like, "Doesn't she know she is in the consolation bracket and can't beat us!"  She didn't care, that wasn't her goal, her goal was to break the record.  I am so proud of this young woman1!!

Why Do We Even Do SwimTeam?

After one of the longest weeks of the year, we grabbed a late night dinner at What A Burger.  Not really the food of champions and yet it was. I turned to our visiting friend Miss Brenda, who had planned her visit for this very week.  She wanted to see the kiddos excel in their swimming pursuits.  She was not disappointed.  As we sat down and our food eventually arrived I passed it out to everyone.  Someone didn't get their burger, so I gave them mine and waited for the other one to show up. I was hungry, frustrated and very tired from the entire week.  I started to say, "Why do we even do swim team? but then I looked up and saw why.  All my kiddos sitting there comparing notes, talking about the pro and cons of their own swims.  They were teasing each other.  They were complementing each other.  They were talking, sharing and interacting.  It was loud but awesome.  J and I are so blessed with this crazy crew.  We are so thankful for the opportunity that swim team has provided us over the years.  We share our wins, our losses, our personal triumphs with each other.  Swim has helped form our family into to being all that it can be.
