Happy St. Patrick's Day

So JavaJava and Pooker made it back to their new home in Abilene TX and I have stocked up on foods, now what to do we do? We celebrated St. Patricks day as best we could . . .

 . . . and Happy 21st Birthday to Dolo.

Not even sure if this was the best thing to do or not. We wanted to celebrate with Dolo and her own sisters let her leave for a short time. The kids were going to take her out to lunch but with all the newer restrictions and the news of places being shut down, they decided to come to our house. They found out while here that they needed to get to Lindenwood to empty dorms. Crazy times. While the kids were giggling and singing, J and I were watching the news. We decided that this was our last outside the home activity or visitors for a little while.  It was time for us to try to understand and embrace the idea of a quarantine due to an international pandemic. So much changed in so short a time.

St Patrick's Day Parade with Nanny and Gramps

Apparently Cottleville has a wonderful St. Patricks Day parade. Nanny and Gramps took the kids and they all had a blast.

Firs the kids had to collect friends and get dressed appropriately, meaning wearing green.

Parades are always so much fun! Thanks Nanny and Gramps for making this St. Patricks Day parade so much fun!

Happy St. Paddy's Day

I arise today through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity, through belief in the Threeness, through confession of the Oneness of the Creator of creation.
I arise today through the strength of Christ with His Baptism,
through the strength of His Crucifixion with His Burial,
through the strength of His Resurrection with His Ascension,
through the strength of His descent for the Judgment of Doom.
I arise today through the strength of the love of Cherubim
in obedience of Angels, in the service of the Archangels,
in hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
in prayers of Patriarchs, in predictions of Prophets,
in preachings of Apostles, in faiths of Confessors,
in innocence of Holy Virgins, in deeds of righteous men.
I arise today, through the strength of Heaven:
light of Sun, brilliance of Moon, splendour of Fire,
speed of Lightning, swiftness of Wind, depth of Sea,
stability of Earth, firmness of Rock.
I arise today, through God's strength to pilot me:
God's might to uphold me, God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me, God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me, God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me, God's shield to protect me,
God's host to secure me:
against snares of devils, against temptations of vices,
against inclinations of nature, against everyone who
shall wish me ill, afar and anear, alone and in a crowd.
I summon today all these powers between me (and these evils):
against every cruel and merciless power that may oppose my body and my soul, against incantations of false prophets,
against black laws of heathenry,
against false laws of heretics, against craft of idolatry,
against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
against every knowledge that endangers man's body and soul.
Christ to protect me today
against poison, against burning,
against drowning, against wounding,
so that there may come abundance of reward.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ in breadth, Christ in length, Christ in height,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
I arise today through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity, through belief in the Threeness, through confession of the Oneness of the Creator of creation.
Salvation is of the Lord. Salvation is of the Lord. Salvation is of Christ. May Thy Salvation, O Lord, be ever with us.

Stations of St. Patty's Day

So we were ready to have baked potatoes in honor of our Irish saint.  A good meatless potatoes and we were adding breads on the side in honor of St. Joesph, who's day was around the corner.  Then Cardinal Dinardo gave us a treat.  He offered a state wide diocesan dispensation.  Thank you Cardinal Dinardo.

The C family had a special guest with them.  Their college age son J, who was on spring break and celebrating his 21st birthday.
Mrs. W enjoying time with her God- Daughter.
May the Luck of the Irish be you!  May your friends be plenty!  May your soul be in heaven 30 minutes before the Devil even knows that you have died!

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Pooker really wanted us to go to the St. Patricks Day Parade.  Her company is always very involved.  She had just completed the bike training/crowd control so she would be on duty.  We pulled out our Irish side and headed to the parade route.

Honestly it wasn't until the end of the parade went by that we finally saw Pooker. I promise this was a friendly wave but she was working so nothing more.  I am so proud of this girl.  She serves others in her career and does it so well and with so much enthusiasm.
Happy St. Patricks Day to you.

So much my has been happening. I needed comfort. I decided to make one of my favorite meals from my youth.  My mom was not the most flavorf...
