Christmas Is Coming

I love the idea of having heirloom Christmas stockings up on my wall to remind me of each precious soul in my family for Christmases to come. I have always wanted to create a beautiful stocking for each family member but don't know how or where to begin. What are your traditions? Do you use stockings? Did you make the stockings, did you have them made? Do your family stockings match or is each one unique? I have been told that my kiddos do not like the fluffy felt creations so how else can I use my creative juices and talents to bring to life my vision of a wall of stockings? Please send ideas my way!!

I shared on facebook and got a bunch of cool responses and I wanted to see what this creative crowd might have to inspire me. 

Dye The Eggs

So many things happen even though we are miles apart. Usually we would all dye eggs together. We are missing some so they called in. Holidays with a distance are not easy!

Easter Decor

In preparing for Easter I tried to find project that might make the day more exciting. 

Everyone got into this project. The kids enjoyed coloring the window art. We put it up right away.

I love how it all turned out. They ALL did a great job.

Re-Stain Dinning Room

After the beautiful table in the other room the kids decided to move into the dinning room. All the furniture is sanded down. I look forward to seeing this project finished. I love the table and the hutch. I liked the natural color but we had to redo the the stain job when trying to selling out house. We sealed it wrong and tit was messed up by the move. The kids decided it was time to like our furniture again. They spent two days working on sanding everything down.

NOLO

Many months back J asked if I wanted to go with him to New Orleans in February. I sad yes, because who doesn't love New Orleans?!? As the trip got closer and closer I wasn't sure we could make it work. I had already spend the last six weeks fighting colds, flus, fevers, sore throats, kidney stone pain, and severe nasal drip. I felt ok and had for a few days, and the kids were excited to be left home alone for a few days so off we went. We forgot that it was Mardi Gras time. Happy to see some floats again but not happy to deal with the traffic. 

Mardi Gras in NOLO is such a unique experience. For us it is about watching families enjoy the parades. Seeing the color of the parades. Everything in moderation and we will have a blast.

Advent and Preparing for Everyone

Advent is a beautiful time of year. 

I love hearing from our out of town kiddos. Phone calls are always so important.

So you have heard that Goobers is on her way to St. Louis to stay. Bagel took it upon herself to decorate the room for first Pooker and JavaJava's visit and then for Goobers. She took a picture of herself and made many copies of it.

The room is very decorated and ready for our visitors and our permanent guest.  We are so very excited!!!!!

'Be Lazy' Friday Until We decorate

We start our Friday being very lazy, a movie here and some food there.

Even the dogs were being lazy. The only excitement the day started with was the very cool advent calendar that Sticks' mom got for the twins.

After more napping and food something happened to the kiddos.

They found some energy and decided to get the Christmas Tree out and decorated. I loved that we had Goobers here and she was a big help getting the mess into looking like Christmas decorations.

So happy that we still had Mary B with us.

Sticks was there to help as well.

It is starting to look a lot like Christmas around here and that warms my heart!
