Loving the new look at Sts. Simon and Jude parish. We are all so glad to finally see Jesus on the cross.
The poor statue spent some time stuck in customs because of the government shut down. The result was worth the wait. This Jesus was made in Italy. It is the perfect size for that huge space. They did a great job in the details. I appreciate the size - as the twins and I could still see it well from the cry room! The details even from a distance were amazing.During the renovation the people involved have done a fabulous job in matching the old with the new. The cross is a perfect example of that. It is the same cross that has hung for decades but the body that was added is new. I just can not get over how well it blended together.
I am sure that to some it seams trivial and in a way it is. The Tabernacle was moved last Easter and I really felt that was the most important change. As Catholics we know that our Lord is truly present in the Eucharist. The place where we hold the consecrated host is in the tabernacle. I want to see that in a place of honor and focus at all times in my church. That change was the most important, but I love this one as well.
I feel that this change also helps as a teaching tool at Mass. These are so many lessons of our faith that are tied to the Cross. This is beautiful! Thank you to everyone that worked so hard to help this change happen.
