Enjoying the creature comforts 9-12 2:30pm
This picture makes the storm look huge and we are so tiny. From what we understand we might be on the clean side but still way too close to the eye of the storm for that to help us too too much. We will have constant high winds with gusts up to 95 miles an hour. This is a scary one but we will be OK. At Mass this morning Father reminded us that God has big shoulders and when we feel weary and fearful we just need to turn to Him. The kiddos and I thought about the Veggie Tail song, "God is bigger than the boogie man". We know that he is also bigger than Ike so we are good!
I am sitting here enjoying the cool temperature of the house after having been outside. It is hot, humid and breezy. We can hear lots of birds chirping. I remember that picking up the last time and then just before the strong winds the birds were quiet. Then it is such an eerie quiet. J and Bear with the help of Moogie, Pickle and Pooker are outside boarding windows. Some neighbors that have never boarded before are this time. We are doing what we can. We know that trees will go down. We pray they don't hit the house or the cars. Our first aid kit is packed and we are hopeful we won't need it.
Goobers, Sugar, Princess and Bagel are cooking up a storm of their own in the kitchen. Goobers also has Jumba's help, if you can call it that. They are mostly making cookies and muffins for breakfast tomorrow. We need to keep them busy. I need to go search out radios and batteries. I am trying to make sure that all chargeable batteries are fulling charged. I am also tacking down the curtains so if the windows do break we can keep the glass contained. I think we are good to go other than those little things.
