Baby Holding on a Saturday

Beautiful - Dad - Adorable
Dad knew that he would be traveling with work the next week.  It was a stressful time.  This was his first trip after I went into the hospital and the babies joined us.  He didn't want to leave.  I can't blame him, the babies are pretty darn cute.

Two Months Old - Already

Happy Two Months Ladies!  We have passed some major milestones.  You passed your due date on the 9th, you passed your 8 weeks and now you have passed the 2 month mark.  I don't know how much they weigh.  I have been too busy nursing, feeding, changing, feeding a bottle, then nursing again and stopping them from being "loved to death" that I haven't gotten them back into the doctor yet.

I thought I would be really good at marking it, like my girlfriend does on her blog.  At least I really wanted to be like Valerie.  She makes a cute sign and then puts it next to them and takes a picture.  I thought of that the day after they were one month and then thought of it at 11:45 pm this time.  I threw them together to get a quick shot, even though Beautiful was screaming.  I realized I had them in the wrong order so I switched them.  This just upset both of them.  Oh well.   Look at Val's adorable son and picture and then you can really laugh at my last minute, cell phone shot of two crying babies.  Happy two months Adorable and Beautiful!

I know it looks bad but their screams are so precious, they don't bother me that much.  I get so many baby snuggles that it far outweighs those moments of crying.  I am so blessed to have the wisdom that comes with time.  I know this will pass and will pass too quickly.  I used to get upset when I would "complain" about so much work when the four oldest were young.  The veteran moms would just smile and tell me to enjoy.  I didn't get it, but I do now.  The constant crying and lack of sleep are nothing compared to the loss of sleep after a fight with a teenager that can drive away.  I don't say that to scare young moms.  I am sure that there is a great fear and lack of sleep that hits when your grown child calls and shares their own woes with you.  Being a mom is about those moments that take us to prayer.  God knew I would need lots of reasons to fall to my knees and that is why He sent me so many children.  Next time you are awake with a sick or screaming child please know that you are not alone.  Try to enjoy each second or at least be thankful for the time awake to mumble a prayer for that child.

Did they change from Yesterday?

Sorry to any readers that are looking for my thought provoking posts.  None to be found, just more pictures of these cutie pies.  I am sure they did not change that much from the day before.  I just can't help myself or stop the kids when we have the camera.  They are so precious and I don't want to forget any of it.  Every mom of twins that I have met, and believe me when I head out with these gals, I met tons of twins.  Moms tell me that it will get better, they don't really remember the first few months that much, the babies will eventually sleep through the night.  I know those are all good things, but I want to enjoy this stage too.

These shots were taken by Possible.  She just couldn't stop.  I think I had 240 pictures from this photo session alone.  Thank you Possible for taking all these wonderful shots.  (Next time please put Adorable on the right and Beautiful on the left.  It really does help with photo identification.)

A Mom Hair Cut

Growing up I always thought that once you hit a certain age you have to get your hair cut short.  No one told me that age and I kept having children and time passed and I never was told to go cut my hair.

My hair is an issue here in Houston.  I have very, very think hair.  I have gone from long to shoulder length but I always let it grow out.  I always resort to the length it was when I graduated high school;  a longer style, just a few inches over my shoulders.  Here in Houston my longer hair would frizz up.  No matter how long it got, it never looked longer.  It would tangle up into that 2 inches over the shoulder look.

The twins have changed my life yet again.  I found that while nursing two babies at one time, while giving bottles to two babies at one time, or even while burping two at a time meant that no hands were free to force the baby (or babies) to let go of my hair.  On top of that the Houston humid heat is back.  The rains have let up and it is hot - hot - hot.  I can't find swim suits small enough, so we must avoid the pool.  My showers were taking too much time.  I would feed the babies, get in the shower and very soon hear the little ones telling me that the babies were waking up.  It was not time to eat again but they were needing diaper changes.  I needed to be able to get in and out of shower much quicker.

So I pulled the trigger, I told myself that I was old enough.  I had to explain to the lady that I would not be upset with a short style.  I don't think she would have believed me until I told her about the twins and that they were child 10 and 11.   I know my hair has tons of body and with so much of it my styles are limited.  A medium length style is just annoying, not long enough to pull out curls and not short enough to get me in and out of shower quickly.  After all is said and done, I like the end result.  It is short but I like it.  The kids say I look too much like Mimi, my mom.  The last laugh is on them, someday my children will look like me and as a result look like my mom as well.  Good thing she is so cute!  Love you Mimi, and I love my new look.

I don't know if I will let it grow out again.  I got it cut once almost as short when Pooker was little. It didn't last long.  I remember in 4th grade and then again as a freshman in highschool.  None of those times lasted.  My new motivation to keep it short might be the amount of money I will save on shampoo and conditioner.   Oh well, I can sum this up by saying that I love that my life is continuing to change because of the twins.  Only God knows what else they will change in my life.

Pooker's good friend from high school came by to say hi.  She asked Pooker to be in her up coming wedding.  She looks a little freaked out holding a screaming baby Beautiful.  She said that the baby was so tiny she was afraid she was hurting her.

Someone commented on how the babies always seam so happy.  That is an example of me just posting the positive.  Pickle thinks they look "so adorable when they cry!"  You can tell he hasn't lost much sleep from them  I must agree though.  They really are too cute.  I think I might add cereal soon, to spread out the night feedings.  I would like a little more sleep.
Dad with Beautiful
Dad sure loves his girls.

They still do a lot of sleeping still.  I think they are looking more and more alike but still very different.

Random Shots in July

We have taken so many pictures of these two.  I keep posting the cute ones but I think it is important to point out that all is not perfect in our world.  We do have two babies that are two months old, they cry.  These ladies like to eat, eat, eat some more, and then cry.  We are loving every second of it.  On thing is so clear to me now.  This time will pass and it will pass quickly.  I want to enjoy each second and each tear.  These precious little ones want me to comfort them.  When they grow up some of the charm of being mom goes away.  Teenagers like to prove to mom that they can do it without you.  I have a few more years being the twins' hero and I plan to enjoy each minute of it.
