Cute Baby Time 14- Weeks

These babies are just too much.  They are full of smiles and laughing.  We are in the middle of my favorite baby age.  They keep growing so fast.  Adorable (L) ~ Beautiful (R)

I told you I would work on some more "awake" shots.  They have super big eyes, killer smiles and the softest squeaks.  These two are just so cute!

A Business for Lessons in Life

J with Mr. T and Mr. D  decided that they would "share the investment" of three vending machines to put by our neighborhood pools this summer.  J kept telling me that this would be a money making adventure.  I didn't think that it would be, at least not for two or three summers.  The argument to me was that running the machines would be a great chance for all the kids to learn about business.  The Texas T kids would all help with the stocking, upkeep, purchasing and everything else related to these vending machines.  I was all about teaching the kids about running a business.
The dreams were set in place.  Each child thought that the profits would be fantastic.  The neighborhood provided the locations.  They actually wanted it to happen as to provide the service to the neighborhood pool patrons.
These business minded men knew that new machines were not needed.  They sought out used machines.  Each putting money forward the three machines were purchased; two were combination machines that hold snacks and drinks and one drink only machine.
These are not cheap things to just run out and buy.  I was setting aside a chunk of cash for J's birthday present and Father's day gift.  I had something bigger than usual in mind this year.  Instead J wanted to buy vending machines.
I don't understand a gift that requires work but I was in the hospital on bed rest when all of this went down.  If it was what he really wanted then so be it.  I told him where his secret birthday money stash was and he used it the way he wanted.
The summer went well with the three vending machines.  The business was steady.  The men are in no way in the clear yet.  The investment of the machines was just too great. The kids had several opportunities to check, fill, purchase and refund friends when the machines din't give change.  The sad news is that three times the same machine has been busted into and another time a second machine was vandalized.  Little taken but costly and time consuming to repair.

The idea was that the children would learn about supply and demand.  Instead they learned about police reports, vandalism, and the cost that stealing has on others.  We have debated removing the machines altogether and selling them but then the neighbor pool patrons loose the convenience of snack and drink options so close.
We live in a well-to-do area.  The robberies are truly acts of vandalism and not someone needing to eat.  Food has been left behind every time.  How sad is that!?!  The Lesson was supposed to be about business but instead has become one about human nature.

Homeschool First Friday Park Time

Our homeschool group always starts the year off with a wonderful celebration on the First Friday of September.  We go to Mass and then meet up at the park.  I missed getting pictures this year but the tradition is that they set out cupcakes in the shape of the Rosary and the group sings happy birthday to the Blessed Mother.  It is so powerful to see 50 (or so)  kids praying together. The kids love to see each other again, they reunite after hiding inside all summer long.  The moms equally enjoy having the time to sit and chat.  We catch up on each others kids, make a few plans for the school year, and get ideas from each other.  Fun times all around.  I am sharing pictures of friends but not really of my own kiddos.  Sugar got some great shots but few of our own family.

Sleeping Beauties

I have been told that the twins look bigger in person than they do on the blog.  I just think they look great either way.  They are so healthy and getting bigger and bigger every day.  We met a mom of twins at the library last week and her twins.  She had such positive things to say, it was very encouraging.

When they are awake we are spending so much time playing with them that I forget to get pictures.   Let me just tell you that they have fantastic smiles.  I hope to show you soon.

Things are coming together!

Creating a "warehouse".  The books are set up in a way in which they can be grabbed and taken to a show.  This was a lot of work.  The older kids were the ones that did much of the work in setting it up and organizing the space.  The younger ones (I refer to my team, team B) came along and broke down all the boxes and cleaned up the trash.  I hear that the location inside our garage is temporary.

Sugar is Sweet and 16

16 years ago our lives were blessed with the birth of a precious young lady. She is go great at calming everyone with her winning smile and adorable giggle. We are so proud of you Sugar-wuger-bugger-bear!

Sugar and Best Bud Kat
Kat treated Sugar to a facial and then the nails.  I understand that they had a blast.  I can't say it made either girl more beautiful, as that would have been very difficult.  They are gorgeous already!!

We headed out for dinner on Saturday Night.
My Irish Twins
Bear & Sugar
Both Bear and Sugar will be 16 for the month of September.  At the end of the month Bear will finally be 17.  This really freaked him out until he was about 5.  Now it annoys him that we refer to them as our first set of twins.
 On to ice cream.
Beautiful
Sorry baby - No ice cream for you!
This is where I got into a conversation with a man that was amazed that all of us got together all the time.  He was one of 10 and had not been around his entire family in over 27 years.  That broke my heart.  As we left I told him in my best "mom voice" to spend his holiday calling his siblings.  I told him that his mom would want him to.  Even though he was about 10 years older than me he looked at me with a mama's boy grin and promised to try.
It is always so embarrassing when mom makes us get a group shot.  It has become a birthday thing, so they had to it.
Happy b-day Sugar we love you bunches and bunches.

(Mom took another one!  I think someday they will be happy we have these shots.)

So much my has been happening. I needed comfort. I decided to make one of my favorite meals from my youth.  My mom was not the most flavorf...
