Valentine and Mardi Gras Parade

I don't understand why any organization would have a big event that would on over Valentine's Day weekend. RUDE! Oh well at least I got to go with J this time. We had a blast. (Until the Uber driver took two hours to pick us up and needed us to walk three blocks to get to her, then dropped us off another 10 blocks from our hotel.) UGH, the street issues that are involved with Mardi Gras will discourage us from visiting again during carnival season.

I love this guy! We have spent many a Valentine together. I am one lucky woman!

Here comes the big parade!
Notice my nails, all done up for Valentines day!

NOLO

Many months back J asked if I wanted to go with him to New Orleans in February. I sad yes, because who doesn't love New Orleans?!? As the trip got closer and closer I wasn't sure we could make it work. I had already spend the last six weeks fighting colds, flus, fevers, sore throats, kidney stone pain, and severe nasal drip. I felt ok and had for a few days, and the kids were excited to be left home alone for a few days so off we went. We forgot that it was Mardi Gras time. Happy to see some floats again but not happy to deal with the traffic.

Mardi Gras in NOLO is such a unique experience. For us it is about watching families enjoy the parades. Seeing the color of the parades. Everything in moderation and we will have a blast.

Six Brothers

The kids have returned from their trip to Abilene. They brought back a gift from the brewery. J and I were excited to taste some of the beers that was brewed by JavaJava and his brothers. WE would be learning new terms. Then sent back a "growler" full of beer.
What is a "growler"? According to Wikipedia it is:  growler (/ˈɡraʊlər/) is a glass, ceramic, plastic, or stainless steel bottle (or jug) used to transport draft beer in the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil and other countries. They are commonly sold at breweries and brewpubs as a means to sell take-out craft beer.

J and I each had a beer with dinner. For me this was a new thing, as I am not the biggest of beer fans. This was delicious.  More information about Six Brothers Brewery can be found by clicking here.

Thanks JavaJava we enjoyed this treat!

The R Family Baby Shower

Baby R is on the way! We can't wait to meet this special little person. JavaJava's family held a baby shower. They invited many of their friends from Houston. This was a big family and friend event to welcome this precious little one.

JavaJava's mom and sister

Pooker and JavaJava want the baby to be continuously covered in the love from the family and from friends. To represent this they asked that all the shower to "paint" on some blank white undershirts.

Everyone takes this job very seriously.

The Westhoff made the trip to the Dallas area to be at the shower.

Christopher and Mr W.
Sad to have missed this event but happy to have been sent some pictures. (Thank you Mrs. W!)

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for this special gift of life that you are given to Pooker and JavaJava and to all of us, through them. We are so thankful. We ask that you bless this child and allow the rest of Pooker's pregnancy to go smoothly.

God Bless Baby R!

Some Went to TX

Goobers, Possible, and Bagel reorganized their lives so that they could go visit Pooker and JavaJava. Pooker is getting bigger everyday with that baby! The first stop was WhatA Burger ad then a bunch of other familiar type adventures.

They had Mexican food, slumber parties, learned all they could about the brewery.

The Six Brothers Brewery was established by JavaJava and his brothers. They have been creating their own beers for a few years and opened the brewery last year. Pooker and JavaJava decided to move to Abilene to be near JavaJava's family and to help brew the beer.

To this crowd there is nothing better than a little sister time.

Conversation With Sugar and Dolo

A group of the kids headed to TX to join Pooker and JavaJava at a Babu Shower. That left Sugar home to to spend some time with her friends.

I love spending time getting to know our kiddos and their friends. J and I feel blessed to have so many great people that are friends with our kiddo.
