Where to Stand

Every where you go there are lines on the floor and notes about where to stand, and how to social distance.

If we were able to rename church then we would be able to back to church.
Just stand behind the blue markers.

This one is history in the making.

Palm Sunday - Covid Style

How should one prepare for what is normally a very long Mass but this year will be only online. We watched with a coffee in hand. Holy Week is now at hand.

I grabbed some branches from our palm plant to decorate the door.

Grabbed some pictures from church videos at our parish of Immaculate Conception of Dardenne.
The priest blessed the palms. Goobers found out that they would be passing out them out on Sunday so she packed her car falloff siblings and drove up to ICD. They were handed several palms. They took a handful to each of their grandma's so that everyone had some.

I used ours to update our wreath with some blessed palms. And then we saw some pictures ofFr. Rick, Bear and Stephen passing out palms in OKC.

Sometimes I really wish we were closer to Bear. It is good seeing him serve the Lord.
May your Holy Week be blessed and united you to the Cross.

Mass With Bear Again

Lent is going quickly. Everything feels wrong. We are doing what we can but "attending Mass" in the living room is not normal. At least I get to see my Bear! and receive a spiritual communion and a blessing.

A New Way To Sunday

This is our new way of "attending" Mass. This is breaking our hearts while we set it up so we can Live Stream the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. We followed some of the recommendations. We found it was hard to follow them too carefully as many of us were still too upset about how we were not allowed or welcome to attend the Mass in person.

The girls put dresses on and the boys were a little more reserved. It was hard to "watch" Mass on TV and not being in person.

We all paused and sincerely prayed to receive Spiritual Communion. I like that I can watch my Bear, who was serving at the Mass and feel closer to him. I like that Pooker and JavaJava were watching and praying with us. I feel closer to everyone.

New Way to "Do" Mass

Bear sent us a link so we could "attend" daily Mass at his parish.

Mass is at Noon every weekday.  I love hearing the words of the Eucharist.  I didn't realize how much I would miss those words.

The great news is that I get to see my son, I miss Bear so much. I wish he were trapped in quarantine with us but at least now I get to see my son serving our Lord!

You no longer GET TO GO TO MASS!

The president has limited travel, public places are closing including the pools where some of the kiddos work, and we as a family have decided to quarantine. We did huge shopping on Monday that should last us for at least a week. I could not find toilet paper but other than that we got what we wanted. The news is all about Social distancing and how that can help limit a quick spread of the virus.

Now what?!? The news is intimidating but we got this. . . or so I thought. While I was shopping on Monday the Archdiocese of St. Louis issued this statement. Still processing what this means . . .

“Do we HAVE to go to Mass today?” A child would ask on a any given Sunday in a whiney sleepy voice. J
and I would respond, “You don’t have to go to Mass, YOU GET TO GO TO MASS!” Never, in all my life, could I imagine not being able to attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Even during the hurricanes in Houston, if you could get to the church safely the priest welcomed you to Mass. I have never lived in an area where the Catholic Church isn’t strong and I have always had several locations and times for Mass to choose from. I will admit that, ‘Not getting to go to Mass’ and not even having an option to attend is very unnerving to this cradle Catholic. I know I am not the only one. This is so hard to comprehend. Mass is always an option, or so I thought.

I am sure that God can make good on things that overwhelm the human heart. I didn't think that Mass on Sunday would be my last one for awhile. God help us!

Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

We got to travel with dad again for another short trip.  These little adventures add so much excitement to life.

We always try to visit one of the major churches when we visit a town. We like to visit our Lord and he likes us to see his "houses".  It is an honor and peak into a town by visiting their Catholic churches.

This was a real treat.  We showed up in time to attend a daily Mass. After that, we toured the big church.  Wow it was beautiful.
