Pooker is Making Progress

Pooker had this to say on Facebook,
"Waiting on my last class to turn blue, everything is in and my hours are logged. Term two is complete with three weeks to spare. Just three more terms to go! I learned a lot this term but also grew in confidence and compassion. Taking care of people is such a beautiful mess. The next three terms are 15-17 hours vs. the 19, so should be a little easier. Let me know if you want WGU info. "

I am beyond proud of this young woman.  She is such a beautiful example to all of us to pursue our goals and to never give up.  Altering your plans is ok, sometimes that is what HE asks of us.  Giving up completely is not His plan. He wants us to flexible not lazy.  Pooker is rocking it, for sure!

WGU

Family news is that Goobers decided to switch her major to business and switch to an online school.  Bear having finished at St. Gregory with the school clog was forced to move on.  He is decided to make the most of his time waiting for seminary classes to start  He is working on his MBA he also picked on online school.  Both are following Pooker's example.  They have chosen Western Governors University, AKA WGU.  I could not be prouder of these two.  They have chosen good paths.  I am sure they will both succeed.

Bear:

Goobers:

Pooker did a great job of acknowledging this on her own facebook page:
"Shout out to Goobers and Bear! They both started at WGU and are killing it. Bear has finished three classes in a month already for his MBA and Goobers has started ticking away at her Business degree. Goobers’s schedule is so flexible now and it’s so nice. Bear is off at a parish in OK, and he’s still able to get his classes done. It’s good to know that the business school is working for people as well! Proud of you both."

If you are interested in the WGU follow this link for a referral from Pooker.  Pooker would recommend this school and now so do Goobers and Bear.  I am one proud mom!

"Clinical"s Begin

Pooker was not able to travel with the group to St. Louis because she was starting clinicals for nursing school.  I am just so proud of this young woman.  She is working very hard on her studies.

Pooker's Facebook:
"8/11 of tx43 at orientation for our hospital for the next two years. We’re a good looking group who’s ready to learn! #wgunursing"

So very Proud of Pooker!

I am so very very proud of this girl!  She has a goal of going to nursing school.  She has pursued it and found her path. She knew that she needed to impress and has worked hard to do so.  I share her facebook post because I am beyond proud of her!

"All blue!
Finished my first term with WGU yesterday before work.
17 credits in 5 months while working over 40 hours a week with both jobs, and a career change to boot! This was a challenge, but honestly it has been hands down the best semester of my life.
The tools to succeed and material to learn are present, but it’s the support and encouragement that were present from both my personal mentor and every course mentor that really allow you to reach a potential you may not trust you have. I can’t speak highly enough of this school/program.
WGU is one of the only schools that has an online pre nursing program. (Most online programs require you to have your RN first) because of this, there is a preliminary term for those who aren’t RN’s yet. So even though I tested and got into WGU, we now go through a second admission process, including an interview with the board, all background checks and finishing all your needed classes ahead of schedule. Thus the pressure to finish has been intense as we got closer to decision making time. My interview went well and all seems to be in place for me to continue onward with the full program. We find out in a few weeks!
Now we celebrate! My brian seriously doesn’t know what to do. I need some whiskey and two steppin. Feels so good to feel smart again. Thanks family and friends for praying, helping, supporting and dealing with me this term.  ðŸ’™
As always let me know if you want info!"

Then a week later she shared her letter with the family.  I blotted out anything that might be too private to share.  I just have to share the note though.  This young woman loves learning.  She loves caring for others.  I love that she found a program that utilizes her strengths and that is amazing.  She didn't give up when the traditional routes were not a good fit.  I love that about this young woman.  She will succeed in life because she puts her heart into all that she does.  Right now we celebrate with her for her current good news.

Taking On Nursing School!

Now ready for clinicals.

Pooker:
"Yesterday I passed my skills testing for clinicals. I have never been so nervous about making a bed before.  My cohort and I did fine and we get to move on to the next step!
Sugar and Princess came to my rescue and brought my id and were moral support. Love my cheerleaders so, so much! Feels good to breathe again, three more classes and my first term will be complete!
Also, we got to wear whatever scrubs we wanted to lab and skills day. I was excited to put on the Caribbean blues again. Miss my Hermann days!"

We are so proud of this girl!
