Pro-Life Baby Shower

One of the coolest things my homeschool group does is to throw baby showers two times a year.  We get together to say the rosary for our unborn and for an end to abortion.  The group gathers with the purpose to honor life, all life.  They honor all moms no matter what number the pregnancy is on.  Each person brings enough small gifts (only if they want) to put into each basket.  All pregnant moms have one basket that are filled with creative, fun, small baby gifts.  I posting a few examples so that others can copy this idea.  It is so nice to be honored even though it isn't our first baby.  Each mom feels loved and cared for, often times when we need it the most.  Gifts don't need to cost much at all.  It is the idea of praying for each other and celebrating life.

These are my special gift that I wrote about a few weeks back. We made two burp clothes, one with the rosary and the other was with Holy Mary.

I missed the shower this time because we were headed to St. Louis at that time.  It was so much fun looking at all the gifts.  I encourage all of you out there to host your own pro-life shower for  the woman in your bible studies or your homeschool groups.  It is a great way to live out your pro-life convictions, it doesn't cost much and everyone has a blast.

what does it mean to be pregnant?

I am so proud of this video for many reasons. My son Bear worked on it for a month. He did a fabulous job. It is graphic but I have had one person call me to tell that it has changed her life. She always just turned her head, knowing she would never have an abortion. After seeing this video she has called a local pregnancy center and is starting her volunteering next week. We are all called to share the truth even if it means we will be persecuted. Here is to Bear and his courage!

God please help me to learn from his example and to learn to live the life you call me to!

Please share this on facebook and in your own blogs.

Super Family Fun for Superbowl

What does Superbowl Sunday mean to the T Family.  It means yummy foods, a little innocent betting within the family, and lots of football (or commercials depending on your preference.)  The kids look forward to this every year and as of now Sugar has claimed it as her holiday to host all our families later in life.  The fun began a little later this year as Princess, Bagel, Jumba and I drove to UST to pick up Goobers.  She had spent the weekend trying out college life with her big sister.  Pooker was not able to join in this annual family tradition.  We missed her but still had a blast.  She watched the game with her dorm buddies and texted the older kiddos enough that they almost felt like she was with us in the middle of things.

Sugar made sure that everyone was wearing a little football makeup.  Jumba felt that to watch football he should look older so she added a mustache and goatee for that little cutie.  So silly.  Everyone picked their sides and bet on each quarter.  In the end Princess won the loot for the 1st and 3rd quarter, Jumba won for the 2nd and Goobers won the 4th.  Crazy fun.  I love how much these kids love to spend time together.  We were invited to several parties but no one wanted to go.  Instead we hung out together.  That makes for a Super Sunday for sure!

Park Time - A little wet

Our home school group meets after First Friday Mass each month and heads to the park.  It had rained all the week before (Thank God as Houston and surrounding areas are still in a drought.) and was looking like another damp day.  The temperatures were in the 70's but the threat of rain kept many of the other families at home.  We joined just a few others at the park for a delightful morning.  The kiddos loved the time with their peers.  Sugar and Possible were alone in their age groups so they sat with the moms or took these pictures.  Pickle and Bagel always love a little football time.  Mom loves the time with friends to chat.  It was a great morning.  We missed so many friends but will probably see them at the home school Valentine Party that is coming up.  We went home a little damp but with smiles on our faces.

MO-DI Twins / Thank you God! Week 17.3

We had our OB appointment this morning.  I am so thrilled to share our good news.  The doctor is certain that he saw a membrane between the two babies.  He is no longer worried about them being MO-MO twins.  J and I are so thrilled.  He still could not find a second placenta.  We are pretty confident that we have our hands on a set of identical twins that are monochorionic-diamniotic.  That is the fancy way of saying one placenta - two sacs.  The danger of sharing a placenta is not nearly as dangerous as if they shared both.

That is about all we know.  The doctor did look to find the sex of the babies.  He is fairly confident of what he saw but J doesn't want us to share that information until we are certain.  That will be after the intense ultrasound in 4 weeks.

The doctor plans to get good information on each twin at the next appointment.  He will then keep track of their weight gain and growth.  If it looks like one is not getting the same nourishment as the other the doctor will refer us to a specialist.  As things look now we might even still be able to have a natural delivery.

I type this feeling like the weight of the world has been lifted. Our babies looked fantastic today. They were moving all around and pushing toward each other and away. I asked the doctor to give me some kind of picture to show the older ones when we got home. This is what he gave us. The pointer is showing some one's toes pushing against the sac that we so hoped to see. To me that is a precious picture.

So here I am with the twins getting bigger and bigger at week 17.3.  Not a pretty shot of me but I am so  happy to share that the babies are doing great on the inside.  Our next ultrasound will be in 4 weeks and then we can focus on what type of babies are growing so that we can get ready for their arrival.  Thank you so much for your prayers and support.  I beg you to join me in continued prayers for their healthy growth and delivery.

Prayers needed

Headed to the OB this morning for my Feb checkup.   We might just get some answers today.  We might not.  Praying that we find two healthy little babies.   I do pray that they do not share the amniotic sac as well, as this can be very dangerous for them.  We might not get answers for that today.  Please also pray that we accept God's will not matter what.

February 2012

In February our family focus will be on three events that we all enjoy.  Mom and Dad always go to Mardi Gras in New Orleans.  Dad is on the Orpheus Krewe, meaning he is in that parade.  The kids enjoy this time with mom and dad gone and the children rule the house.  The month always ends with my birthday.  Getting older isn't easy but I do get to share it with the most wonderful people on the planet.

So much my has been happening. I needed comfort. I decided to make one of my favorite meals from my youth.  My mom was not the most flavorf...
