Prolife Dinner

Pooker got to spend Saturday with her friends setting up the auction and dinner fund raiser for a local pro-life group. She got there about 10:00 in the morning and left about 10:30 in the evening. What a full day she had. I am told that she and her friends worked very hard, enjoyed a good meal and then went right back to work. She felt bad leaving when she did because the work wasn't done.

I must say that I was so jealous dropping them off. My high school and early college days were spent volunteering in some way with various activities of the pro-life movement. I love the atmosphere around a pro-life convention or fund raiser. I was eager to pick them up and get the scoop. They hitched a ride from another mom that went to the dinner. They added a stop in on the way home so I was missing the baby by the time the teens got to me, but it was worth it. They had a good time and I got to quiz them while the evening was still fresh in their minds. I miss those days and am so happy that Pooker and her friends got to give of themselves for such a wonderful cause.

Blocked

I really am upset with myself. I have started to post several times this past week, each time I stop, erase and start over. I really want our family and friends to know what is going on in our lives, so I am committed to posting often. I love to write and I find that writing keeps me in Christ, focused and relaxed. Usually I love it and it is easy, but not now.

Then a friend posted that it was National Blogging Month and I was stuck. The goal was to try to post everyday for the month. That just added the pressure and I now have Blogger's Block. Like any blockage, I am working through it. Please forgive me for the empty week.

Enjoy these various pictures while I begin to work with my keyboard:

You Know Your Family Is Big When. . .

your Halloween costume is a team and not a player.

when you have enough members of your family to make an entire baseball team.

when your friends have enough in their family to be your opposing team

when you head out on Halloween as an entire baseball game with fans included.

This is My Body

My dear husband and I had the honor of picking up Pooker and her friends from a concert the other night. It was hard getting up early the next morning for Mass after staying up late driving everyone home. We ended up at the Sunday night Mass. It had been a long weekend and I was tired.

My children had been grabbing at me all day. Cowboy has been nursing quit a bit, Bagel has needed hugs every second, Princess has been sharing story after story while her brother Pickle has been asking question after question. They have all been close physically also. I understand that as volleyball season winded down they just all needed more of mom.

I hate to admit just how selfish I really am. I sat down between Moogie and Sugar at Mass. They both leaned in and put their heads on my shoulders. I knelt down almost to get away from them. Everyone is so touchy these days. I begin my prayer and asked God, “Why do they have to be so needy today. I just feel like they are taking a piece of me. I don’t have enough to share and I feel tired and weak, why to they keep taking, can’t I just have my body left alone.”

God in his goodness didn’t bother to answer with a verbal response. I turned my head and looked above the altar. The irony of the situation hit me like a slap in the face. There He was on the cross giving every last drop of Himself up for me.

I became distracted during the Mass like any mom of nine does. I spend much of the Mass quieting down my row, instructing on the proper posture and separating fighting children. We have now knelt down and the Consecration has begun. I am especially aware of kiddos at this point, it is the high point of the Mass and they need to be settled and respectful. Then God allowed me to hear the words from the Priest with such clarity. . .

Take this, all of you, and eat it;
this is my body which will be given up for you.

OK, OK, I get it, I get it. Sorry! (Oh and Thanks)
